All I know is that Haiti's building codes are virtually non-existent, and I don't remember the last time a building with 100s of people simply collapsed anywhere in the US, even the poorest areas. Everyone benefits from a good education, and just as many conservatives would rather see a bigger pie for everyone rather than the pie of tax revenue cut up differently, I would rather see education for all improved rather than the system gamed to benefit a few over the many. Kids should not get a crappier less-funded education just because they don't have the ability to travel to another school.

1. Actually, the Employee Free Choice act allows unions *more* options to organize, and they can still choose secret ballots if they like. 2. I think the majority view on the left is not to disarm. It is consistent with the constitution for municipalities to regulate firearm use, and this can be done without abridging freedoms. Cars are regulated, for example, and people still have the freedom to drive.
