They produce graphical artifacts, as your view just clips through them, and it looks very weird, but yes you can walk anywhere,

I was using an addon called Active Camera to walk around on the ground, and the jetway attaches to my aircraft as I am using aerosoft AES. Both can be find by google.

The plane is the PMDG 747. The scenery is Aerosoft Heathrow 2008. They are both payware, but they are definatly worth it- the PMDG is an amazingly realistic 747, almost all of the functions of a real 747 are simulated.
