i was 7 year old went it was going on and i was living in croydon about that time the wind i will forget it was so amazing and yes it was warm that day before the storm hit and it kind off funny it was a good day and a powerful storm came and hit london and croydon my bedroof was ripped of tree and everything was destroy were i use to live it was a nightmare the next morning but thank you for sharing about the storm from hell

Thanks for your message and glad you liked the vid! One thing that was interesting about the behaviour of the storm was that the previous greatest storm in the S.E. England had happened 300 years earlier and historians said that the same places that had been hit then were hit 300 years later.

That must have been really rough. I know in our town some people lost house walls and roofs. The storm was really weird, very ferocious in localised areas. I drove to work for weeks through country lanes where electric power cables had been brought down with workman from Irish Electric companies giving a helping hand to get things back to normal.

I was 15 months old when that happened...our roof was ripped off & my poor Dad was up on the beams trying to nail down a sheet of tarpaulin to keep us dry. The guy who lives a few doors away from us ended up losing the whole of one side of his house in that storm...our road was wrecked!

Praise the Lord for protecting many lives during the 1974 Tracy cyclone, in spite of its severity. It could have been worse. I've read Rev. Col Stringer's testimony of how the Lord preserved him and his family during the disaster. I'm blessed and encouraged by what the Lord has done and is still doing to protect His own. :)

Thanks! That's a relief. I used to SCUBA dive every day when I lived on Guam, so I don't think I would like not being able to go in. I'm a bit of a risk taker, but not with my bite sized children.

Good video mate, i agree, Cyclone Tracy gave us a good new start. %80 of the houses and buildings were rebuilt, if cyclone tracy didn't come their would be a lot of old tacky 60 trpoical style houses and buildings around. It was still a dark day in Australian history, RIP.

You can go in the ocean. I go swiming all the time, Mindal and Casurina Beach are the best. I've seen crocidiles on the beach but their way furhur down by lee point and buffalo creek. But if your coming in the wet season don't go, you'll get stung, but threw the dry season theirs flags and life gaurds.

That's the ticket! But having seen the crocs up front and personal I really would caution that you swim only where you're told that it's safe to do so. We were stopped from swimming in an inland pool because a ranger had spotted a croc. By the way absence of a "Danger Crocs!" sign usually means some tourist has pinched it as a souvenir - Catch 22!
