But GT500 DOES mean 500 HP, just horsepower at the engine crank, not the rear wheels. The fact that the wheel horsepower is only 50 less than the crank HP means that the supercharger actually does something.

I don't care what they say. I love mustangs and always have...in my opinion the classic ones are the best. they are the heart of mustangs. after about the 80's, they started going down hill.. granted the new ones look cool and the cobra seems pretty bad ass.. but i'd rather have a classic anyday

GT500 doesn't mean 500HP. Thats like saying Z28 means it has 28 hp. Dumb ass brits and also I saw that they had independent rear suspension. I test drove one of these and MY GOD that is a wicked fast car. They just don't want it to look good because it is American.

one simple fact that every body seems to for get is that the Shelby is still a svt car so that means its got the same dohc hand built s/c modular engine as the 03/04 cars, but instead of 4.6 they are 5.4, so that means you can do all of the tricks you do to the 5.4 that you would do to the 4.6 and end up with more hp remember there is no replacement for displacement.

i have a 03 cobra altough mine now makes 618 at the wheels after many pay checks and sleeples nights, mine along with all of the rest of them start out with 365 at the rear wheels. no offense but i guess you just don't get it the new mustang is all about nostalgia although i am never going to get rid of my 03, i am some day going to buy a gt500 just because of the warm fuzzy felling i get from looking at one.

447 is Rear Wheel Horse Power. The Real Crank engine Horsepower will be more than 500 BHP assuming 13 % loss at drive train..

first off the 08 S302E is supercharged(not tubrocharged) cost 65k and was produced in very limited numbers. now saleen did make a parnelli jones edition S302 that was twin turbo charged but that was allmost 80k out the door and had a very small production run but nice try smarty pants.

ok to settle the score the gt-500 blows and i dont know why everyone talks about it, the best mustang built in recent time was the 2003-04 cobra (eaton m-90 supercharged 4.6 doch modular v-8 producing 390 hp AT THE WHEELS!!!, t-56 six speed, independant rear suspension) all for 36k usd. They are faster cheaper and better all around. so stop talkin about the "noah's arc mustang" and start talkin about the 03-04 cobra.
