I thought pretty much the same way you do albion. The only thing I can come up with is that people change as they get older. Perhaps when Julian came, John wasn't ready to be a father. I know my father was a different man when he was younger than he is now. Unfortunately, because John is gone, we will never know.

aDayIn - I gotta agree with Lardass. That some bad song. George was capable of writing good music. Every once in a while, it was even as good as John and Paul's music. However, George struggled doing what came natural to John and Paul. Crackerbox Palace, in my opinion, was a classic reason the other Beatles and George Martin refused to record so much of his stuff. Since George went solo, there was no one to stop him and so it wasn't long before he was caught plagiarizing...and writing THIS song!
