I don't want everybody to be so defensive, because I really like this beat as much as everyone else... but if you really watch this and compare to others it don't look like a dry run... "I" feel like he reheared it and used the 7 min for exposure, because he goes through the sounds as if he already know what sound he wants.... but people don't get me wrong this beat IS and I repeat IS great.... and really inspiring... don't point me as a hater... lol... just giving my opinion / view....

I use 256 samples for doing real-time sequencing. It will all depend on how fast your computer is, what sound card you have, and how intricate the instrument is you are using. but for MPD work, 256 should work just fine in ASIO4ALL. Good luck and show me some of your stuff!
