Autopsy, last night, after I read your post, I pulled up some stuff on the 'net. Seems she agreed to be the opener BUT they were both billed as co-headliners. After one show, Luther asked the crowd to thank "my opening act, Ms. Anita Baker." That apparently infuritated her and her management because if promoters thought she was an opening act it would drive her price way down. Years later, she and LV tried to bury the hatchet and he invited her to record a song with him but she never showed!

He voice, her songs, her interaction with the crowd and her stage presence were all mesmerizing. This is by far ny favorite sings of hers. Actually I'm pretty sure Daft Punk didn't sample this song. Voyager definitely sounds INSPIRED by this song but I can't here anywhere that sounds straight up sampled. When you say Al Jarreau could sing license plate numbers and you would be content, you're saying that even something as meaningless as license plates would sound great when he's singing. this is one of my favorites from my baby,`Nita...she's the best and she's always surrounded by the best musicians God every created! her rhythm section always hold her down perfectly. i love Greg Phillinganes on piano, Ricky Lawson on drums n Nathan East funkin it up on bass. If you look back @ her other songs, you'll find mostly the same musicians,,especially Nathan. I would love to jam with those guys any day! I sing, too.
