i agree - he's very under-rated. i think this vocal (along with the housemartins stuff - especially 'build') is the best white man's soul singing in recent memory.

'The Grauniad' was/is what the Guardian was always called on various comedy shows, such as those on Have I Got News for You as it was, once, famous for its own spelling mistakes. As you spelled it 'Gaurdian', I thought you were making a very subtle reference to that - but maybe you just spelled it wrong...
