WoW is losing people to it but it is certainly not a WoW killer by any means. People with higher level wow toons don't want to re-level and those well geared like being able to pwn noobs so they will be playing for a long time to come. Judging from Dark Age of Camelot, I'm fairly sure that Warhammer Online absolutely destroys WoW in pvp aspects. WoW is better in PvE however.

Infact it was complete when it was released, I was there on day one and there was no queues or lag and aside from the occasional loot bug which sorted it self out after about 20 seconds its was pretty smooth, there was even Molten Core in there to get people excited. Your arguement seems to be 2 fold, one is that WOW wasnt finished at launch, I can from personal experience say it was, the second is that WAR is aimed a speacil audeince, that doesnt excuse a shoddy product.

And WoW was complete when it came out eh? Not tryin to be an ass, just think it's ridiculous to compare a game that was released over 4 yrs ago to a game that just came out. WoW was so rough at launch. And there was absolutely no end game for a very long time. Not even battlegrounds. WAR is targeting a super small player base compared to Blizzard. A pure pvp oriented game will always have a much smaller following.

Its a good question but to be honest I wasnt wowed by WAR, so when Wraith of the Liche King came out it blew it clear out of the water. Sure they are doing alot to fix the issue, world events are starting and replacing lost classes but too little too late, with MMOs you have 30 to impress people, if you dont they cancel their free account and move on, alot off MMOs have suffered that fate for me.

Not even close. Mind you, rvr, scenarios, and keep seiges still do happen, however in teir 4 they happen FAR FAR more often. Over half the map is rvr based, there are 5 locations for EACH race to play around in (not including the major cities of course). There are also forts, keeps are larger in teir 4 as well, including the dual walls that start to show up in tier 3. Etc, etc, basically you begin to see the game come around to what it's mainly focused on.

Ok fair enough, is the game any different between 20-35? Because I'm already doing keep sieges, instances, scenarios, rvr, public quests and pvp related public quests. What else is there to do? Granted that is alot to do but I'm saying that at 20 I can get a good grasp of the game at 40

totally agree on the info about the game. it is so dam hard to research anything on there site, there just isnt anything there. i have been playing since release, it is a good ame but they are lacking alot of things. for one you cant even effectively aoe grind in this game really. you can but not like wow. i have always loved aoe grinding, it is fast fun and easy, not in this game tho. some of the mechanics they added for some classes are rediculouse. backlash/explosion for one, retarted.

Thanks for the review. I'm in America and I'm not sure if there is any difference in the two releases as far as bugs and stuff goes, but at least I have an honest opinion to go by and know somewhat, what to expect when I get the game. Actually WoW had a lot of basic info on it organized pretty well on the main site, stated plain and simple, in writing. I picked up on what cptmachine is saying as well while trying to research basic info about this game. It all came from a mix of developer podcasts on youtube, reviews on gamesites, etc.

I've been playing in UK from release and had none of those issues really, I get ques at peak hours but only a maximum of 3 minutes which doesn't bother me. I think the main issues are the way the game is more focused on pvp, if you just play pvp you don't have travel problems or boring mobs or shoddy loot (i think renown gear is really well done). I've played the pve side too and I liked it but I personally enjoy the pvp more and that probably changes my view on the game

Near as I can figure you yanks got a good and smooth release, we europeans did not, there wasnt enough room on the server and that is when they worked. WOW was a full and released product here in the UK at launch, sure it had bugs but it was done, there was everything there to play, it plan without lag and queues from day one, that isnt he case with WAR.

One criticism I have is you are expecting a newly released MMO to be comparable to an MMO that's been out for nearly 4 years. Of course the website isn't going to have an encyclopedia of knowledge for you to rummage through yet, it's got to allow players time to experience the stuff first hand before they ruin it. Also, the game isn't completed, no MMO is ever completed, and it's silly to think of it as a game that should be completed. This is one of the smoothest MMO launches ever, great game.

Mind you, I think that the cut classes make it a bit unfinished. However, calling it unfinished and only going 1/2 way through the game... is... well... ignorant to be honest (not trying to be offensive here, at least you gave it a chance). As far as a your WotLK comment, I think they definitely wanted to release before the next WoW expansion, but the game was slated for June,then pushed back.So how big of a factor that is I dunno. Also, one thing you have to understand that bugs, and errors are things that get fixed. I played WoW when it was released and I remember loot lag, bugs with skills, etc. I think people who love WoW will love WoW no matter what. WoW didn't start with 8-10 Mil. subscribers on release.

Yes, my whole point is not that warhammer is an awesome game, and you have a poor opinion, my problem is that in which you are basing your opinion. And the question of an expanding universe, and what is yet to come is obvious there is something not in the game, but even at launch, the content that is available, you haven't seen. Overall you are a good reviewer, but I think this one should of waited a little while until you hit end game.

Yepp, but I don't think that it was as a good thing to do that. Yes wow is the leading MMO out there witch pritty mutch sucks. People that wana make a wow killer stress to mutch to gett it out fast, in this case befour WOTLK, so that they don't see the game throu. War will have it hard now, people will go to WOTLK so war will have there chanse in half a year or so. So if they make it finished and and more content, eat the critic they have gotten and fix it. Now there is a fact betwin wow and war that you need to have in mind. WoW started with a lvlcap of 60 lvl and war has with 40. Mean that both wana but as mutch game time in those 60 / 40 lvl that is possible. In wow's case you lvl faster then in War that meaning. So saying that him reviewing the game at lvl 10 isn't the same as lvl 12-16 in WoW. + In wow the game dusn't start undill like lvl 30-40. War start earlyer, so there isn't anything telling that the game looks differant at lvl 40 then 10

Despite that fact this game isnt finished, its close but theres still simple errors and bugs that would have been stamped out in beta, however with WotLK over the horizon the decision was made (and rightly so) to get the game out early cause the shadow of that expansion would have killed WAR dead. Sure people would have played it but not in enough numbers to make back the millions spent making it. Games are released when it cost more money to keep making them than it does to simply release it.

I can understand where you coming from, I really can, your example is a perfect example of what not to do when reviewing a game. However the debate falls down when you realise it isnt possible to ether experience all the content or finish the game. MMO are just not built that way. To make the game viable as a business body it will constantly expand or die so I know there is stuff to do that I have yet to do as its not even there yet.

My point on the game is no an issue, yes i think the game is a good game, but is it finished, and did you even play the whole retail? The answer is no. From the start, from the tone of your voice it is obvious you did not enjoy the game. And no, i can't pass judgement because I, myself have not played the whole game. If i review wow at level 12, or 16, how much of the game am I missing? How much content is there that I haven't even seen? Thats when a game gets deep.

Why does the world have to wait months for judgement to be past on this game, its a comment that is repeated time and time again and I think by people who really do enjoy playing WAR (which for me isnt an issue). What you need to realise is that all reviews regardless of the source is the opnion of the author and everyone including yourself has already pass judgement on the game. Yours is most likly that is game is awesome, that is fine. Mine is that its unfinished and shallow.

Glad you had a good time. From an event point of view it is great to have too many games than not enough, though it is tough on the GMs who have put in the prep. The reason was that a number of people went home earlyish. Not a comment on the Convention which went really well, but reflected people wanting to get away. Next time we'll look to get a better idea of how long people are staying and possibly tailor accordingly. See you later this year (10th/11th October).

Another thing: the original Ravenloft setting turned me onto D&D. The adventure was engrossing (borrowed heavily from various other storytellers such as Dickens, Stoker and Shelly), the maps detailed, and the images outstanding (zombies rising out of the flooded dungeon?! Kick ass!) Some teenagers who lived upstairs from my family gave me their old tattered module and I cherised it for years. When the campaign setting came out, I bought it right away and DMed it for my pals! Fond memories =)

Kara-tur (spelling?) was the name of the "oriental" setting and was a region of Forgotten Realms. It was very concerned about spirits and humanoids and oni and less with beast-like monsters (which regular D&D was stocked with). Al-Qadim was the Arabian Nights setting, also in Forgotten Realms. As was the case with Kara-tur, it was a tough setting to adventure in as the philosophy was much different than standard (Western)-based adventures. Great review! Ravenloft was the best setting!
