Although you people are trying something nice... but clearly you are making fun of bible.. even you dont accept it, faces you make tell me nothing but this... let me explain you i am a hindu and i have studied bible... i have read quran, as two of my partners in delhi are muslims and they are more caring than my own brothers... so i find it ironic that actually the well read and highly educated people tend to generate more serious problems for islam than the people who just silently follow it...

interpretation. So How can a God who has full knowledge & control over all that occurs also assert that we have free will? It's not possible. He knows all that is going to happen which eliminates free will & we are no more than characters in a book or a movie Your assertions on this are wrong & you know it. If this contradiction is there, which I know it is, then how many others will non-zealot blinded eyes find in this book? This also means the Koran can't be the truth. See, :-) logic.
By: Abbodine1. on 08 Jan 09, 17:05:49
Which is "God has full knowledge and control over all that occurs." contradicts your other statement, "This is to say, all available (infinite) options are given to man." You are contradicting yourself by saying what you said and I bet you didn't even take the time to read it before you did. Your very statement of full knowledge and control are the most damning of your statements and supports what I have said. It basically says he controls it all and knows it all, leaving very little room for

The statement, "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: he is our protector," does not say anywhere in that statement in any way shape or form, "all available (infinite) option are given to man." Not even once and this is grasping for straws. What I think you have hear is someone who discovered this blatant contradiction who was of the faith and then, came up with this lame interpretation of the text to keep with his faith. Also your first statement of your second post

Refer to Mu'tazili, its a school of thought answering your so-called contradiction. I used to grapple with this question of logical reasoning as well, until I did the proper research and came upon this school of thought in Islam. Basically it deconstructs your argument and also touches on important points of the Islamic faith. I think you can find a quick synopsis on Wikipedia, although I do suggest more thorough research before speaking on the subject.

Abbodine1: God has full knowledge and control over all that occurs. As explained in Qur'anic verses such as "Say: 'Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector'". This is to say, all available (infinite) options are given to man. Now you can take this two ways, God knows all that we are able to do, ie He knows all possible outcomes of a choice scenario, or He knows what we do/choose. But the choice is ours. So it must be the former. Logical reasoning bud.

"But concerning His Son the Lord spoke thus: "You are my Son, today have I begotten You. Ask of me, and I will give You the heathen for Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Your possession." And again He says to Him, "Sit at my right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool."(I Clement Ch. 36, Clement of Rome c96 A.D.) He also quoted heavily from the Old and New Testament just as we see it today, showing the Christians were NOT Muslims, but true followers of Christ

I do not.
By: Shaxarel. on 07 Jan 09, 23:05:58
No, not according to me, but to them: "let all the nations know that You are God alone and Jesus Christ Your SON, and we are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture."(I Clement Ch. 59, Clement of Rome c.96 AD) "Let us look steadfastly to the BLOOD OF CHRIST, and see how precious that blood is to God which, having been SHED FOR OUR SALVATION, has set the grace of repentance before the WHOLE WORLD."(I Clement Ch. 7, Clement of Rome, c96 A.D.) Clement was ordained by Peter himself.

Irenaeus, a student of Polycarp, who was a student of John (an eye-witness) also wrote a book against heresies, where he combats many ideologies that even Islam holds. It can be argued that, if Muhammad knew how to read and write and came into contact with Christian sholars, he may not have erred in his Anti-Judeo-Christian message, coming a couple of centuries after these great men who defended the faith and refuted everything he said before he even said it.
By: Shaxarel. on 07 Jan 09, 21:41:48
This is a lie propogated by Islamic apologists when they found out that the Quran contradicts every main theological viewpoint in the Bible. Polycarp, Clement, and Ignatius were all students of the eye-witnesses of Jesus' life and ministry, and we have the original documents, especially of Clement, that verify the authenticity of the scriptual virility of the Gospel's message: Jesus preached the kingdom of God and repentance of sins; was crucified, died, and rose on the third day.

I have a question for you, didn't Mohamed take women as booty from the places that he pillaged? I know the Jews did similar things for some of the places they took over. This doesn't sound like women's rights to me.
By: Abbodine1. on 07 Jan 09, 18:31:57
although its better than your assertion Of (which is backed with nothing at all) "You have to admit your logic is circular and very easily refuted". This is an indication that someone has nothing left to say cause they know their argument holds no water whatsoever. That being said, I have a feeling you're going to start seeing holes in your so called Holey book even though you still cling stubbornly to your faith, which means it will be long and drawn out before you dump it all together. :-)
By: Abbodine1. on 07 Jan 09, 18:18:34
Brilliant? Come now, you're knowledge (So called power) is lit by the dim light of faith. Even your words Allah, guides whom he wills, Indicates that you're being tampered with, and you see circular logic because the two statements (God/Allah knows the outcome of all things & You have freedom of choice) are creating a contradiction. I have yet to see you come up with two arguments that would refute this and one good one. So far your Chocolate and Pizza one has proven nothing.
By: crawlingkiki. on 07 Jan 09, 02:42:46
Yes unfortunately there is a disparity between the beautiful words of the Quran and backwards cultural practices. That is why it's the duty of every educated Muslim to speak out when injustice is being done by ill-practices. The reality is that most "Islamic" countries today are very far from when the Prophet pbuh had established an Islamic state. Justice unfortunately is a rare commodity not just in Islamic nations, but all nations run by power-hungry politicians.
By: crawlingkiki. on 07 Jan 09, 02:40:03
All I can say Abbodine is that if you are bound and determined with your viewpoint nothing I say, no matter how brilliant can change your mind. Allah guides whom he wills...you have to admit your logic is circular and very easily refuted. In the end it's perspective and to be sure we are on opposite ends...I choose freely everyday, yes I'll agree there are influences from the environment, people, and if you believe in him Satan, but ultimately we push the button. I wish you peace.
By: rajivkuin. on 07 Jan 09, 02:11:51
The whole of islamic world is busy saying... so what we dont follow it but quran has always told right ways to live... well we can easily see the reality of woman values in islamic countries and other parts of the world...
By: Abbodine1. on 06 Jan 09, 19:19:56
Remember knowledge is power. What is even more powerful than knowledge is ability and the ability to reason and utilize your knowledge in many different contexts is true power. Without that it is just information.
By: Abbodine1. on 06 Jan 09, 19:15:54
Now assuming you've grasped this, this would mean that just because we don't know the outcome of our future doesn't mean he doesn't since he sees the beginning & the end of it all & all that which lies in the middle. It also means that those who are going to heaven and those who are going to hell is predetermined & there is nothing you can do to prevent that from happening since your path has already been picked for you. Which leaves us with a lie which is "having the freedom to choose." ;-)
By: Abbodine1. on 06 Jan 09, 19:03:07
to come. & example would be him being an author of a book but even more so, for the beginning & the end is known to him & he knows everything everywhere making him omnipotent and omnipresent. that being said, our destinies have already been written out for us. Me typing this, you reading it, now add to that small sliver of experience everything else that's going on throughout the universe. EVERYTHING AT ALL TIMES, ALWAYS. In there lies the contradiction between free will & god knowing it all.
By: Abbodine1. on 06 Jan 09, 18:57:16
First off, you follow a holey book whose basis has little founded in logic. Secondly, all of my argument is very logical. The outcome of all things are already known to Allah/God. for he is omnipresent and omnipotent. Again, he knows the outcome of all things. I can take you're poor example one step further and say that he knew, that you were going to pick chocolate on that day at the second long before you were brought into existence and everything that lead up to that moment and all that is
By: crawlingkiki. on 06 Jan 09, 02:39:11
Well there's some circular reasoning...First you can have free will with someone else knowing what you're going to choose. If my sister for example puts chocolate and pizza in front of me and asks me to choose and knows I will pick the chocolate and I do, does that mean she forced me? No, it does not. So how illogical is your comment?
