With no intention of putting down Eric C., it's a shame I hadn't heard of Freddie King until (I guess?) running across his recordings on YouTube - 6 months into having viewed something like 75% (rough estimate) of all Clapton videos. This music reminds me of Macon, GA, birthplace of Little Richard. Anyone ever been to Fincher's Barbecue? There's a photo hanging on the wall of my dad as a H.S. senior, standing beside a convertible:)

It just doesn't get any better than this. No reason Clapton covered this.

Great attack and unusual use of thumb and forefinger picks...love the opening lick - so distinctive! Love those guitars on his lapels.

Rest assured that most Swedes have a fairly good understanding of English. "This is the blues" wouldn´t pose that great a problem, not even in 1973.
By: coolscrnname. on 24 Aug 08, 06:29:36
It's kind of funny; those Swedes probably have no idea what he's saying at the beginning:)

NO I HAVEN'T !!!
By: popcornpants99. on 22 Aug 08, 01:33:42
This video shames us, his home country for never recording him like this. A rare case where the lapel length/grandiosity matches the skill/soul length/song writing truth.

That is awesome that you got to see them in concert! That would have been fabulous!

When I saw Freddie and Albert in concert around 1970, I was about six feet from the stage. Freddie is my favorite blues guitarist....a real powerful attack !! Definitely, the KING OF THE BLUES !!
By: nhwoodsblues. on 15 Aug 08, 23:15:58
