i hate waiting for people at the ramp do your check in the parking lot back up un clip the boat grab the ropes and your done i dont see what the hold up is. sometimes things do beak but this is about the only excuse for holding up the ramp. At least this guy had the common sense to go during non busy hours. nothing is worse the getting to the ramp at 6 just to sit behind someone that dont know what they are doing

lol the funniest thing that ive seen at boat launches were people with an inboard outboard boats and the hyros went out so they couldnt lift the outdrive! haha so instead of simply disconnecting the hydros and manually lifting it and tying it upwards they drag it out....instant $1000 damage...

Wouldn't it be nice if people fill the cooler at home, rather than at the ramp. If 4 people ride together in the truck why is all there gear in the truck? Wouldn't it be easier to place the rods, tackle boxes, coolers in the boat before launch? I see this almost everytime I use the ramp, still nobody uses their heads.

I agree with "xlight's" comment. What we all need is a smug superior commentator. I agree that it can be annoying at the ramp sometimes, but even with lots of experience, things can go wrong. I just hope someone is there to see Mr.Sunglasses's bad day, and then be patient and help him. It would teach him some humility. That is, unless he is as perfect as he claims...

Mr. Expert, I didn't know boats usually carried "bouy's." Do you know what a fender is? Mr. Expert, what a joke!
By: willemkaret. on 18 Aug 08, 13:19:21
My first lauch went smoothly. Weeks before the holiday I bought and read a small book "getting started in powerboating". Then I googled some funny stories about things that go wrong at boat ramps, very helpful. I took 4 fellow divers with me and we prepared everything in the parking lot. Two were ready to get in the water to guide the boat. It took us under ten minutes to get the boat in. It's all about the 7 P's: Peak perfect preparation prevents p.ss poor performance.

By: Cincy21red. on 29 Jul 08, 01:09:54
As for all of you people going on and on about how you would make the experience as embarrassing for the rookie boat launcher; how did you all become so efficient at launching yourselves? How smoothly did your first few lauches go?
By: RobertGary1. on 15 Jul 08, 00:06:38
I hate it when people skip line and pull right up to the ramp. You're suppose to pull to the back of the line whether you are putting in or taking out.
By: hotrodkid7. on 30 Jun 08, 22:58:19
i know very true. instead of just standing there watching the people, go and help them

My brother sank a boat and a truck and a trailer (he was on RealTV if you ever saw that video of the boat launch and the brand new white truck sinking and the prop of the brand new boat being rammed through the boat behind him). :P Yeah 5 minutes if you've launched hundreds of times. If it was my third time launching a boat, fuck you, you can wait or launch it for me.

The younger guy in the boat sounds like an ass. If that was his father he would be more tolerant. He could possibly ask him to help.
By: sshonuff. on 18 May 08, 15:48:31
I help out when I can to move things along. I even offer to back their boat down the ramp if their clueless. If they refuse help and get a shitty attitude, I wait untill the boat ramp idiot is done. I carry 3 extrememly loud air horns, then we blast them with the horns, applaud and yell. Pretty much the most embarasing scenario. They either wise up or get ridiculed.
By: bassfishinfever. on 15 May 08, 04:09:32
lol im 15 and i can do all this like a pro it takes me about 2 mins to get our bass boat in the water but what drives me crazy is when people have there boat in the water but they just sit there blocking the dock
By: pfuehrer. on 12 May 08, 05:07:26
I like the people that leave their boats tied to small docks for endless periods of time. Please un-tie your boat and go somwwhere else and look cool.
By: pfuehrer. on 12 May 08, 04:58:38
What about the people that launch their boats and forget they can play in their boats somewhere other than the dock next to the ramp. Un-tie the boat and float away plaese!

Great video posted here boy's........ this is soo true. Rookie boaters, are just clueless and when you have to wait for one of them, it just makes ya want to slap-em. sometimes we will set up a chair, crack a coldie and watch the idiots at one of our local boat ramps on a Holiday weekend here in Lake Havasu City, Az. We go boating opposite of visiting clowns.

Captain Know-it-All giving us the lowdown on how it should be done and how long it should take...if he's gonna do that he needs to learn the nautical lingo. He says, "Get there early, throw out some "buoys..." Just shows he's a rookie. In the Navy we call them "fenders" because they "fend" the ship away from the pier. Civilians call them "bumpers," but civilians are ignorant of things nautical. But, Captain Know-it-All, they aren't "buoys." Idiot.
