I'ts much more humane to breed beef, pork and poultry on a massive industrial scale, living in overcramped, filthy and unethical conditions where they are fed with a bland diet made to maximise weightgain. Most of the chicken you buy is no more than three months old, pigs about a half a year and beef maybe a year if they're lucky. My original point was that it is inherently immoral to kill someone for working on the Sabbath, regardless of on which day it is observed. Many Christians today seem to believe that the Old Testament doesn't need to be considered as valid today as that is the "old law." However, if it is a passage that supports some agenda of theirs, such as preaching against homosexuality, the verse should be fully supported. You can't have it both ways.

People have been picking and choosing which verses of the bible they are going to follow for centuries. For me, just the fact that a God as described in the Old Testament ever considered slavery, the killing of all firstborn for some crime they never committed or any of a whole number of things acceptable is grounds to not believe in them. You can say old law new law all you want, but I don't really like to sell my daughters into slavery to pay my debts or kill someone's kids.
