you are quite brilliant and clearly are well informed on your "condition". i am not near as well informed as you are, but i can tell you there is no such thing as normal. there is only a perception of normal, and that is a variable in itself. i see you as a human being, and a wonderful human being at that. showing yourself to the world with all the possible risks involved is a good and brave thing to do. i hope you will continue to do so.

As I said in the video imho lfa, hfa, and aspie all on the spectrum and should be seen that way even though their co morbids treated differently (I have seizures.)
By: limeslimey. on 22 Jun 08, 15:58:26
Yeah, I don't agree in the term "biomedical" much either. (Is that what you meant?) It's possible I am an aspie but I prefer to think of myself as hfa because when I was growing up my parents never heard of the time. I think I have genetic autism. I can sort of see it in my dad. I don't believe in kids all of a sudden getting autism but I have heard of this genetic mutation theory which is not true for me.
By: CreddyEddy. on 22 Jun 08, 15:27:18
"Bio-medical autism" is a term PhilCommander came up with to describe co-morbids. The other half being "genetic autism" which most people think of as asperger syndrome. The theory is that aspergers is simply autism without the co-morbids and that theory bears itself out in the fact that kids diagnosed with autism tend to turn into aspies when their co-morbids are treated rather than actually being cured. The fact that we can't agree on terminology really is a major problem.

I really don't know what they mean by biomedical. If an autistic child has gastro-intestinal problems, it would be a co-morbid condition. In other words, gut issues and their treatment are separate from autism.

By: limeslimey. on 04 May 08, 20:24:16
Then biomedical has nothing to do with "leaky gut" or gluten and casein free-those are comorbids?

Well said. Very interesting. Thanks for your openness. Someone else brought up autism being called an "illness". I can't accept that one, because my autie is healthy. Bio-medical seems like a curebie-manufactured method of describing the disorder so that "fixing" autistics can be more acceptable.
