This was a true moment of inspiration from Geldof and Ure. This song/video was made with the aim of making people who were dying from hunger live. It was not known at the time that these singers would benefit their career and make themselves more money. This song/video is the only altruistic attempt at pop music providing charity. It is a great video because it was free of music company influence and was done for helping others.

As I remember, this was a low-production type recording. Bono was pretty much unknown, Sting hadn't recorded anything as a solo artist.....At the time Boy George might have been the biggest star on this record. I just remember it starting to play on my local radio station aroung Thanksgiving. God bless those who were behind it. By the way, it did come before Live Aid.

Reluctantly I agree with Tianafelu. I think that Boy George was a little bit out of his depth with the amazing talents he was surrounded by. I dnt knw what u guys are all on bt Boy George totally sucked during tht song!! He so did NOT sound amazing!? I will say he did a good job whn he took th lead bt whn Stevie had th lead he sounded terrible + there r a few moments where u cn c tht Boy knew he ws off. He shouldn't hv sung just an octave below Stevie, he should've found th harmony & sung tht. I guess he just doesn't hv tht kind of natural ability. Stevie & the back up singers wr perfect in thr harmony bt unfortunately Boy killed it

who said BOYS rehearsal performance was BAD...STEVIE is a PRANKSTER he does jokes on EVERYONE...BOY didnt know that..so he wrote what he wrote..everyone was scornful of him..then STEVE mocks him up too..what was he going to think with a group of people he obviously ADMIRED...BUT NEVER MET..

I don't believe he was mocked by Stevie because of that. Of course Stevie isn't perfect, but I don't think that's him. Boy George admittedly was heavily on drugs during this period and Stevie is a consumate pro... there was an interview where George said Stevie tried to choke him. I guarantee you he didn't choke him because of his clothes. He was probably f'ing up the song. Stevie is a tolerant guy, but not when it comes to music.

STEVIE mocked BOY UP....read the book...a lot of people made sport of BOY...and he had a LOT of indignities to face because of his being a transvestite...but he was never less then himself...and that is to be admired...i know that it may not be what we would want to think of STEVIE...but you may have to now think that the possibility MIGHT EXIST no one is perfect...

Stevie Wonder has nothing against anyone of sexual orientation, religion, race or creed... I can guarantee if you he was rude to George it was because of his performance and NOT because of anything else. Stevie has performed with Elton John, George Michael and many other gay artists. Also, this was a number one single. Performances like these drive sales, especially in the 80's. Stevie had every right to be edgy, and if he got upset, I can guarantee he had the right to do so.
