I find most textbooks are very bad at teaching German. The one I had in high school was great. It started you off very simple. I choose textbooks because they cover syntax and grammar. I'm not so much interested in just learning phrases. I have to know what I'm saying and why I'm saying it that way. I have heard of Rosetta Stone but it's a bit pricey for me. I do practice now and then with some German speakers.

Thats right, I live in Bavaria and I told already some people from Amerika, England and Norway what Germany is really like. But please don`t reduce Germany just to Bavaria, we have much more to offer, i would even say, that Dresden is more beautiful than München. And the old Kaiser-castle of Berlin will be rebuilt the next years! Or visit the Rhinelands and the Schwarzwald, just great!

We're just back from a German vacation including Rothenburg, Neuschwanstein, etc etc!! What a gorgeous and amazing trip it was!! I had no idea about the Chitty connection... but, am tickled to hear so. I'd happily pull up roots and move to Germany! What an enlightened and friendly bunch of people!!! I went over in 2000 and visited Rothenburg, Munich, and Heidelberg. It was by far the best vacation I have ever had. The people were nice and the beer was great! The best way to visit in my opinion is to know someone over there. You will learn so much more about the culture and the people. Me and the family took the trains everywhere and had a blast.

p.s. I did German in high school for 3 years and still remember many German words to this day, though of course not everything. When I visited my sister in Seattle a number of years ago, they took me to Leavenworth, a Bavarian style village. It was very quaint and we had a German sausage,sauerkraut & mustards lunch. It looks like a lovely place! I once had a set of (drink) coasters (laminated/cork base) that I listed for sale on eBay. They were "Castles of Bavaria". My inlaws actually bought them from me for $5! I was going to just give the coasters to them.. but they insisted on paying. I'd source stuff like this from charity (goodwill) stores. Would you have liked souvenir coasters like that or is that not your taste? :-)

I have to ask you some questions....... 1) So do you produce everything from your house? 2)How long do the cookies stay fresh for? Do you do something special to keep them fresh cos obviously you started the first batch soooo long before the last? 3)I last question, is quite cheeky but how do you market the business? Sometime during the 1950s the mill was used by squatters, they caused a fire which damaged the centre post. The inside of the mill now has been converted in living accomodation. Only the spur wheel and wallower remain. Hope this helps!

No trade secret at all. Edible icing sheets that are run through a printer loaded with food coloring cartridges instead of ink. Peel and paste onto wet icing. That's it. A little Photoshop knowledge helps with image manipulation.

I have dug out all of my Christmas ornaments, what few I had - and I do mean only a few, but I have one that is about 45 years old, so very precious. I have some new ornaments this year. Yes, I just finished piping cooking 520, and I'll get yours started probably Monday once I finish wrapping all the Showtime cookies which is going to take several hours today and tomorrow. Not sure what you are exactly asking with #1... with #2 - Showtime sent me the images and I print them onto edible "paper" (more like thin marshmallow), and then that gets transferred to the cookies, and #3 - I've done them for a friend in the Netherlands.
