No, the Queen stopped sleeping with Beowulf and King Hrothgar each time she found out they slept with Grendels mother and that was why they were cursed to never have a son. Beowulf only got a bed mate because the queen stopped sleeping with him. The Queen was probably the mistress of King Hrothgar as well before the movie is set. Beowulf would probably have married his mistress too and the cycle would continue until the mistress also found out he slept with Grendals mother.

In my opinion, what's wrong is that they are luring people by saying that it's basically the story, when in reality it is not. They are changing a world that they didn't create. I understand that some changes are necessary, but unnecessary changes really get my gall.

What's wrong with making a movie inspired by the story? Why does it have to follow the exact story in the poem? It's a different work of art, inspired by the poem. And it's pretty fucking kickass.
