Snickers

I took this video today when we set up Snickers in Luv-A-Pet in the Petsmart in Lafayette, LA. We rescued Snickers from death row at the Roicy Duhon Animal Control several months ago. We got her fully vetted and ready for adoption. Snickers is a sweet girl.

There are lots of paid and volunteer jobs with pets. Many of the vet's offices and the animal rescues need volunteers to clean cages even.

All of our fosters are adults. But, many of our fosters have kids who help care for the foster animals. Many of the animals we rescued from the Lafayette Animal Control. Some are owner surrenders. Some are dumped or picked up as strays. Alvin was rescued from the pound. He has been adopted and has a family now! Yes, we have two personal dogs of our own. We also foster several dogs.

Also, how do u create like a cat ranch or something? How old do u have to be to become a foster parent? How did u have all those animals in ur Alvin the Guinea Pig? Its just becuz i wanna be a Foster Parent and Volunteer at the Toronto Humane Society! You really inspired and i give you my thanks! Hope i can be as neat as u! Do u have a dog?

You are very welcome! It is very important to keep them on the prevention, and have the vet do a simple blood test once a year to check them for heartworms. Especially if you live in an area with lots of mosquitoes.

Medications used to prevent heartworm infections are called preventives. The first thing to remember is that preventives are NOT used to kill the adult worms. A simple blood test by a vet will determine if a dog has heartworms or not. Once a dog contracts heartworms, the vet will have to treat him. This treatment can be very costly. It is much cheaper to purchase heartworm prevention such as HeartGuard or InterCeptor from a vet. Most vets recommend starting prevention at 3 or 4 months.

Yes, there are dog adoptions at Petsmart on Saturdays and Sundays. The local animal rescues bring some of the available dogs and cats on those days. We also bring our adoptable guinea pigs there! =^..^=

Tuxedo Twins

These two adorable kittens were abandoned illegally in a shopping cart at Petsmart on Saturday. Someone put them in a crate and wrote "Please find us a good home. Thanks," on it. We brought them home and set them up in a a quarantine cage until we can get them vetted. This video was taken yesterday morning when they were waking up.
