you got that right. we run three 445 exl's . but i dont run them any more i got sick of it so i got a chance to get out of mine so i did .now i do a little bit of every thing dozer dump truck excavator grader skidd and cut some time but not to much any more. we have to have the leveling cabs here lots of steep rock ground here . dont think i own any of this stuff perley iam just a grunt like you lol a lot less head aches this way

Oh the Timbco's are the king shit in the woods industry. We got 2, a '99 T455 and a '96 425. They are incredible, you get in the right growth and its hard for 2 grapples to keep up with you. I ran one for 3 weeks while a guy was out on R&R and fell in love with it. I didn't want him to come back and was hoping I would take over his job. Its a bit getting used to but once you got it you can cut like crazy. I loved the tilting cab especially cutting on a steep hillside.

Hey Chad. Perfect answer. LOL

i see you have been reading lol. not really conflicting feelings . i love the woods but i love my job as well . the vast majority of loggers will say the same . if logging is done right every one wins, us as people the wild life ,and the forest its self . we need the wood .small animals get better places to hide and live and bigger animals like deer get lots to eat with lush new plants and new sapling growth. and the predators and birds of prey get an increase in prey species .

I'm glad you added your comment about the caterpillar infestation and the health of the trees. I had also wondered if someone with such a love for nature had conflicting feelings in this line of work. It pays to be educated about things one may not understand and I was.

been pulling hemlock most of the day with them they do well . now the tiger cat fellers i dont like . they are built great over built for the most part. but they are so slow i tried an 830 feller and it was roomy in the cab very nice but you cant cut like you can with a timbco. timbcos have a drive pump for each track and one that runs every thing else you can travel and cut at the same time much better with a timbco than you can a tiger cat. i would like to try the new timber pros feller

Oh no I didn't think you was knocking Deere too bad. I don't own any I'm just an employee who's lucky enough to operate one every day. I was just wondering how they compare to Deere in the woods I've never seen any up this way just feller bunchers. But I've heard nothing but good things about em. Makes me want to try one out on a nice heavy twitch of Hemlock.
By: timbco475. on 16 Sep 08, 00:56:22
perley dont get me wrong i am not knocking deer i ran a 648!! series for a long time they are good and and might be more nimble but when it comes to pulling power and having your front end not lifting up all day tiger cat wins hands down
By: timbco475. on 16 Sep 08, 00:42:54
we love them we have five from a straight 630 to the b, and c models . the little 630 is the closet to a 648 g in pulling but the front dont lift like a deer . the motor and hydraulic pumps are out farther on the tigercats. and the b are about a 748 but a bit better i would say . and the 630 c will tear a 748 apart . they are that good . they are a bit different with the hydrostatic drive. and take a bit of getting used to but they are great we just demod an 848 and no one liked it .
By: perley03. on 15 Sep 08, 02:33:07
How you like that Tigercat? I'd like to try one out myself. Bet she's a bit different from the 648GIII.
