oneeyedwidgetsfriend you are mistaken the radical sr8 lap does not count as a production car lap because it is a track car and can corner alot faster but in a sr8 standing kilometer the zonda would win hands down

I realise that but if you carefully analyse the lap or even take a quick look at the garage 419 analasys, youll see that GM's timer counted a bit slower, which just leads me to beleive that if they cheated on that than what else did they cheat on. Lets face it, there isnt a single advantage for the ZR-1 yet it gets a faster time ??? makes perfect sence.... Zonda is lighter, wider, and has an absolutely brilliant suspension, it has the same ammount of power and more downforce from the body.

Well the quite honest fact is, this is a 13 mile track and sooo many small driving errors can really affect your time. The zr-1's time was cheated, period. It was done solely by GM and you can guarantee they cheated, by several means. Im sure it was running higher boost from the SC, probably race gas, shaved race tires...etc.

Laptimes cannot be used as "ultimate" tests for cars, since there are too many conditions and variables involved. Let's be logical for a few seconds... shall we? Personally, I think this is taking boat-mobiles to a different extreme. But you never really know, it might catch on. But it gives you something else to worry about asides running low on gas; low air in tanks D:. Ouch... And for those not sure, it's a base off the Lotus Elise (I thought it was an Elise upon seeing first the car); Rinspeed is a Swiss manufacturer similar to that of Japan's Tommy Kaira or USA's Saleen. They're all basically tuners, but they do make their own line of vehicles.

Couldn't get an X5 in time for my first winter so got a Lexus RX300SE. Bad move ! Couldn't wait to order an X5 in time for the following winter. It was great to be back with BMW. nah - Veyrn top spee is only 405 kph. F1 does 370kph at Monza even with wings on (used to make it faster around corners and on brakes). On the "infinitely long straight" you mention, F1 would simply run no wing at all and increase its top speed to aroung 450kph.

lol, i don't know what these guys have said, but a veyron does have a higher top speed than an F1 car, even in low downforce set up. theoretically it would eventually win out in a straight line. although the F1 would accelerate to the top speed much quicker, on an infinite straight the veyron would eventually overtake, then the SSC aero would overtake that apparently lol. but yes, on a track the Bugatti would be lost without a hope of keeping up

Veryron would beat an F1 car on a long straight. Round a lap, not a chance in hell. To be honest I would expect an Enzo to be faster than a Veyron round a lot of shorter tracks. Veyron handles brilliantly for what it is, but still sh*t compared. Remember when they demonstrated it in front of potential owners at Laguna Seca and they span it, even with traction control and the loads of other nannying electronics that make it feel you driving a train and not a car.

Care to share where you got those times and how are they official? From what I know, the ZR1 time hasn't been confirmed and the GTR V-Spec doesn't even exist officially! I'd still take the Porsche any day, it's sleek and low like a sportscar should be, not like an overdesigned shoebox (GTR). The ZR1 does look good though...

For all the hype, Ring times are just one source of data. Faster on the Nurburgring does not mean faster car. A while back, I would have agreed that the ZR-1 would be faster, but it isn't a dedicated track machine like the GT2. The only competition I can think of right now are the 430 Scuderia and Viper ACR.

Comparisons between the GTR and a Caterham is nuts. I've been in Atom's (300s) and Caterhams, and they are nothing like the experience of being in a 'car'. Don't get me wrong, I buzzed for three weeks after doing 0-60 in less than 4 seconds and going around corners at warp speed, but you just cannot compare the two. I've driven a Lotus and it was comfortable but that was because I was at Silverstone. On the road I have no doubt that they are a pain in the arse (literally) as a daily drive.

Well that's a fair opinion. But I'm not taking about a 'tuned car'. I'm talking about what you get straight out of the box. I agree that this civic is comfortable and it does look awesome, but that's not what type-R's are all about. They're about performance and handingling first and formost. To say it's faster than the previous european designed EP3isn't really fair either because each new generation is faster than the previous. I'm talking about feel and handling.

Yes this type-r is quite a disappointment from previous models. I've gotten the priviledge to try every type-r except the new sedan and last generation NSX-R. I must say this car does rather suck. The based it off of the honda Jazz, (Fit in Canada) platform which was a huge mistake. It doesn't really do anything all that spectacular. My favorite is still the DC2. It's jus the best overhall handling package and so very reliable as long as you don't dramatically mess with it or turbo it.

What they are saying is kinda conflicting...Originally type-R is not meant to be comfortable, but sportive only... unfortunately the market demands comfort. This FN2 is no longer a real R in my opinion. The best R's are still the first gen R's = NSX-R, EK9, DC2.

I love American supercars, like the GT, viper, and the corvette. But i also love these cars because they are made by a company that also makes high-volume, everyday, street cars. Thats why I also love the Nissan GT-R, and the upcoming Lexus LF-A, and the Acura NSX. What I think the makers of U.S supercars need to do is compare their lap times on the Nurburgring and improve their cars. (and not by adding on assloads of power)
