The problem with these two is that they assume that a discussion about homosexual companionship *MUST* involve a discussion of sexuality. That is simply not true. I believe that 2nd grade is a perfect time to discuss the idea of different forms of companionship, without discussing sex. i think the idea of schools introducing the topic of homosexuality at such a young age could possibly be a bit too much too soon, but i also think it could benefit the children. there are some kids out there who all along know they are gay or have this feeling of being different but can't figure out what it is. if they are exposed to the idea and exposed to a positive reception and acceptance i think it could serve a good purpose. i don't think this harms kids in any way shape or form.

Separation of church and state means religious figures like the pope don't manage government, that's it. Twist it how you want, separation law has nothing to do with gay marriage. Floridians may have a different view of gays because FL happens to be one of the most popular gay spots in the country. Hmm, well, I have a different take on it. I believe that God cannot contradict himself. Leviticus 18:22 (in KJV) says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is abomination." In other words, dont be homosexual. In Romans, the verse is implying that God allowed the people to have what they asked for. He didnt put homosexuality upon them, He just didnt stop them. Homosexuality is a moral issue, not a civil rights issue. Homo's have the same right to marry the opposite sex as anyone else. Homosexuality is a disfunction biologically. For males, the sperm has no utility in another male. For females, two ovums get nowhere without a male to fertilize them. You're absolutely right in that religious values can inspire law -- but "inspire" is the key word. A law can be based upon religious principle, as many are, but still must have a bona fide legal basis in order for it to satisfy the Due Process clause of the 14th Amendment. One must prove that permitting gay marriage will damage our society. No such proof exists. That's where laws like this go wrong, and unfortunately, nobody has taken that argument to the US Supreme Court yet.

I don't understand why this is even an issue. The only people who are opposed to gay marriage are people who would never be in one anyway. It's not like if homosexuals can marry they're going to force heterosexuals to marry them. It should be up to the individual.

God absolutely didn't want gay marriage. He specifically said so in the Bible!! Try reading Leviticus 18 or Romans 1:27. Or maybe even check out Genesis 19 - the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their sin (sin that included homosexuality!!) You can't marry animals because they can't give consent, just like you can't marry your favorite oriental rug or marry your house or car. Seriously who actually wants to marry an animal? This Amendment does not take away any rights or benefits. It simply takes the current marriage laws FL has, and places them into the Constitution. Wow. This video shows exactly why we should reject Amendment 2. It's simply an attempt to codify the Bible in Florida. If this passes, that's quite a statement on the Florida voter: we care about pigs, but not about gay people, old people, and those who simply believe the sanctity of marriage disappeared a while ago. Just an observation,... When their hands first come together there are no wedding rings. After the baby is born, and the baby's hand is shown, the male hand is wearing a wedding ring.
