Hello, Loved the video ! I am getting into contortion myself... But no where as good as you. I find it hard to breathe when in tight positions and I can't say i've gotten over the fear of hurting myself while attempting a new move either. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Usually, around 2 hours daily. All kinds of stretches ranging from hamstring/leg flexibility stretches to backbending. I'm not an expert on explaining stretching, look around online and you'll find many sites with people who know what they're talking about

thanks :) and to warm up i don't have anything in specific... most of the time i'll do some basic things on a trapeze bar.. i love this because it cracks my back in advance w/out me even trying. i also always do many handstands against a wall in the "scorpion pose". & then i continue on to the basic bridges.. i warm up pretty quick

For me, that position takes no effort. I've done that from the time I was very young when I used to take dance class.. On the other end, trying to touch my stomach to the floor while in a straddle is similar, but is very difficult for me. I'm sooo not a frontbender, but have been practicing tons lately & I'm slowly making progress.

It comes natural if you have the flexibility. Don't try something you're not ready for or you might end up hurting yourself. Be careful.. and just practice lots of backbends to increase your flexibility

Nope, I'm not at all double jointed. You say you're flexible everywhere other than your back.. I'm going to assume you mean backbends and all that. This might just mean you're better off frontbending. Can you get into the pretzel position easily?

Glad to see you're still contorting and progressing ! Now that you seem comfortable in cheststands, maybe you should try with your arms laying in front of you, instead of behind you ? It should be a little uncomfortable, but the stretch will make you progress :)

Does it work any better if you take very small breaths? Also, in keeping up with my earlier line of questioning: How far up the backs of your legs can you see? It looks like you can probably see a good portion of your thighs at this point! It looks like it's a lot further than the last time I asked at any rate. :-)

During the times I'm in the deepest stretch, I exhale to lower myself down, I haven't spent enough time in the deep stretch to know if I can breathe lol As I get better at this I'll let you know! ;) Next time I'll pay attention and attempt to hold it longer

Backbending update- early September

I'm as realistic as I can be with goals, but I also push myself. Last year, my goal was a cheststand with both feet on the ground, and I remember thinking it was impossible back then. Think I can finish off this year with this goal???? Hmmmm only time will tell! ;)

you know what? we both do the same thing, out stretches go to the cervical area so our ribcages don't get pushed out enough, it's not a bad thing, i've been told some people's stretches go to the lumbar area and some others' to the cervical area (wich is slighty less common, so i think that's the main reason you can't let your butt fall

Every time you can bring your tailbone closer to your head, or do this with more ease, or hold your stretch for one count longer, you are making progress! So keep on training many times a week, without forcing yourself too much, and taking a little rest when your body needs it, and you will come closer to a headsit. It depends on which one. I can basically sleep in my left split, that's my good leg. My right split I can stay in it for about a minute then it starts to get uncomfortable. And the box split is new to me, so I can only hold it for about maybe 15 seconds at a time comfortably.

Thank you! In reality, I stopped doing them because I was very frustrated with splits in general. Once I finally got both front splits comfortably, I decided to give this one a try again. I'd say I got serious about getting it down around 3 months ago, but previous to that I'd start and stop, so I'm sure that helped a bit
