Am I the only one who heard this song in 1971 and thought - Oh a nice new Beatles song by Paul.. But that voice in the background sounds to female to be John. Oh yeah. It isn't the Beatles. They broke up. What's going on here?! They'll get back together!!! (Denial) It felt like my parents were getting a divorce. Probably worse lol.

I think "I'd love to turn you on" was Paul's idea. He wanted to include that in a song, and they found a good opportunity. Also, "A Day in the Life" is a close Lennon-McCartney collaboration.

Skinnyskaller, "Elenor Rigby" is a positive song in that Mr. McCartney was looking beyond himself, seeing with compassion into the lives of others. The line "Where do they all belong?" suggests that these lonely people actually do belong somewhere, but simply asks us to ponder; where? Compare that with cynical "A Day In the Life". Lennon laughs at photo of a guy who "blew his mind out in a car - he hadn't noticed that the lights had changed..." His empty solution: "I'd love to turn you on"

There were a number of albums credited to "Wings", but this wasn't one of them. The original artist credit was "Paul & Linda McCartney", the only album credited that way.

One of the all-time greats.... so many catchy parts... it's mostly about vibe but there's a transcendent message there. That ecstatic refrain "hands across the water, heads across the sky" really captures something about interconnectedness and inspiration, and it seems especially relevant now, with new vibes of "hope" in the air 'n all. Yes, we've screwed up these past few years, we're so sorry... but we're gonna take a fresh approach, reach out and take things a notch higher. Hi Hi Hi!
