pretty good...the tenors in our choir messed it up for us as well...kinda like yours, whom were flat like half the time. Twas a bit loud in the parts that are pp, esp. the ending ritarded note on shih. Sowee, Im just really critical when it comes to Russian. overall rating, 3/5.

that was fucking bad ass. i remember we did that for our regions and they sent us to state......:( but our tenors sucked and ruined it for us.(texas) hehe our director ritard the ending and we held it out for like20 seconds more...all quiet and shit. when we were done we were all out of breath and i think most of the Basses were about to collapse.

this is a phenomenal recording it sounds like i wish my choir could on this song. the only thing is it seems just a pinch loud in the softer parts. one thing though...what's with the dog in this video? lol seeing eye dog?

Yes this is with Ms. Bucchanon. They didn't film the concert so there aren't any dvd's, but they did record audio for cd's that were for sale.

I am new to this position, and thus do not have a recording of my current students. However, I do have an audio recording of my 3rd - 5th grade choir from last year. Give me a day or two to put together some sort of visual to go with it so that I can post it on Youtube. Even though they are young voices and sometimes struggle with intonation, you will find their tone resonant, strong and free.

With the moses hogan chorale aside the other choir's tone quality are absolutely terrible and sound like they're shouting most of the time. And I would LOVE to hear one of your advanced choir's pieces.

I have 45 minutes once every other day and I still spend most of my time on technique. Granted, we only learn 5-6 pieces per ensemble per performance (I don't know your programming style, so I don't know how we compare), but because I spend so much time on the technique and HOW to perform each note, the notes are constantly reinforced and memorized by nature of the fact that they are constantly repeated. And yes, I do believe that the majority of the choirs in my favorites are good examples.

They aren't taught to place their sounds in the back of their throat and they really aren't doing that(it's not a very good recording)But it's also very hard to cram vocal technique into a 42 minute period and still teach all the music and well. And just because a sound is forward does not mean it sounds better or more beautiful. If the choirs that you have on your favorites are examples of what YOU think is correct singing and a good choir, you're sadly mistaken.

I'm not expecting an operatic performance. I'm expecting a performance where young singers are taught the basic fundamentals of good vocal technique, instead of sacrificing those fundamentals on the alter of festival ratings. I have taught high school, middle school and elementary school and always teach my students to keep a forward placed sound. Telling them to keep the sound back in their throats only leads to unnecessary and potentially harmful in the vocal mechanism.

I don't know how much you expect from high school students but this is very very good for a public high school choir. The EHS choral department has a very good program and have been winning first place trophies with superior ratings for the last 10 years at national competitions. I think since you are a choral director yourself, you should have more respect for young singers and not use what you know to be rude and try saying something constructive.

Tempo's too slow, the piano is tinny (and slightly out of tune), the pianist is banging away at it like it's a drum set. The voices are placed so far back in their throats it's hard to understand what they are singing. On the upside, the rhythm is accurate, and their dynamics are well executed. Conductor's cues are clear.
