For the record, y'all, I made this "fake" clip precisely because a "non-fake" one didn't already exist. I wasn't trying to fool anyone, nor did it occur to me that anyone would be foolish enough to think that I was. The "fake" clip has a long and honorable tradition--major labels (and major acts) have been making videos for new songs out of recycled footage for years. Sorry to have to explain the obvious.

This clip is fake... It uses footage from the show with orchestra of 26 august 1977 ("Works orchestral tour" DVD), in which they didn't play Peter Gunn. Notice there is a conductor at the extreme right and above (closer to Lake). In 1977, when they still played with orchestra, they didn't play Peter Gunn. Peter Gunn entered the set list after they quit the ELP orchestra...

They do a job where the people want to know a little more about such an enigmatic figure in music. Sometimes that means they come across as someone who knows or understands little of Dylan's music, but they may have researched the subject well. And Dylan obliges by giving us some insight into himself and thinking.

Hey, at just under ten minutes, this version fits! Question: How did Dylan remember the words? I saw this tour, and he was screwing up the lyrics to the much briefer "Highway 61 Revisited" bad. Caveat: As mendacious as the biographical songs "Lenny Bruce," "Hurricane," "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll," and maybe "George Jackson."

actually, though a lot of 3ebs songs don't use "crazy chords"....the timing and like whoever else in this thread said, the space between the chord changes is sometimes so quick, it is hard to get down... and the s/t record is a masterpiece...it would be in my top 5 of all time...it's proboably the one album i can relate to practically every part of my life...the good and the bad...that record has seen me through=)

It's just too bad they took out the best part of the song. They took out almost a full minute. Which probably had something to do with the producers of Letterman not wanting the lyrics to offend anybody but come on, if you're gonna have Third Eye Blind play a song that's already about drugs and sex, why not just let them play the whole thing? I agree this is the tightest I've ever seen them play it live. It almost sounds like the studio recording despite the fact that they don't have 1,000 guitars mixed like SJ prefers to do on albums. Nonetheless, very precisely played and sung. :)
