They didn't stop when ever something went wrong. and sure, james's voice is different, but it really does suit some of the old stuff and all of the new stuff...I like the more resent live versions of master of puppets but love the 89-92 james's voice best

You're partially correct. Dave had a very huge influence on the sound of Metallica, but Dave co-wrote 4 of the 10 songs that would be on Kill 'Em All. Kirk's solos were his solos, outside of the first 4 bars of every solo in every song. As much as I love Dave, I don't know if 3 huge egos could've existed within one band. Kirk has a very laid back personality, which was probably perfect for him fitting in. I think Dave would've been an interesting dynamic in the band had he not been kicked out.

Both Dave and Kirk are good, but the diffrence is that Mustaine come up with some kick-ass shit on his own, but Kirk always has someone guiding him and telling him what to do.

hey dave never used a wawa pedal straight up leads, and if wasnt for dave ther b no killem all,maybe ya kirk filled his shoes and came better lead player but kirk copyed dave note for note on his leads,takes one guy to play it and another to prefect it just like zack wild filling randy rhoads shoes, there both awsome but hats off to dave to start it, my opinion
