I've seen this before, but I don't remember for certain where. I think it might be on one of those overpriced "Best of Musikladen" DVDs where you get about three songs (granted, long songs in Yes's case). Great early raw stuff from one of my fave Yes albums. Howe sure loved those ES-175s back in the day!

What a rare gem! The audio is amazing for something so old! This is such an awesome group of musicians each one at the top of their game! Not many with music this complex could pull it off live as well! Tony Kaye adds a different flavor with his playing! Howe is smoking as usual!

This is great visual art. I think the archaic video production actually works very well today, in a post-modern sensibility. I wish more professional musicians today would consider the art of the video better than they do. But, then, again, I suppose the purpose of the music--and the musician--has changed. That's why artistic treasures like this will last far beyond the present trend of sameness. Oh, and who is Elizabeth Frink?

It's not the same guitar he played when he was with the Yardbirds and on early Zeppelin. The "Dragon" Telecaster had a rosewood fingerboard, the one on this video had a maple fingerboard. But some time later Jimmy put the neck of the "Dragon" tele on this one, hence the confusion.

The '79 Knebworth vid (here on YouTube) blows this performance away. Good pro mix too. That's not a Wah on this - it's a phase shifter on a Tele with a B-Bender. Jonesy's bass pedals also are a lot fatter on the '79 version.

I hear what your sayin.but I like the thin guitar sound, and the triple neck.the triple neck strumming to me kind of gives it a cool feel I like.kind of "folk-rockish" almost(probably not a good description, but thats what it reminds me of)I like the bend in the middle of the riff, and the riff at 7:12 just tops it off for me

Indeed Page was totally fucked up from '77 onward. Ten years gone is a sentimental favorite of mine but to me it never sounded good live. The triple neck guitar and Page's use of wah for the riff throw me off. There's no bottom end to the song like there is on the album version. Obviously its hard to duplicate the 13 guitar overdubs on the album, I understand. IMO the best version of this song is the Page/Black Crowes take. 3 guitars and thick bottom end.

HAHA, your funny. wrong. it's standard tuning with a 6 string. Tangerine is with a 12, and live he has his tuning set up for diffrent songs. he dosent change the tunings, just plays the songs a bit diffrent. it sounds exactly like the studio version, exept 2:50-3:15 were in the studio version they overdub the solo using alot of fuzz. and he obviously CANT overdub the solo LIVE. ps. there are as many as 15,625 diffrent official guitar tunings out there.

What an unbelievable band. Zeppelin were a band whose every member was not just a great musician but a revolutionary ground breaking virtuoso. What are the odds of that much talent being concentrated in one band? Obviously pretty low, since no one has ever equaled Zeppelin. This great song is off of Zep's very first release, an album that still sounds better than virtually all of the thousands of records that it inspired and were released in its mighty wake.

I know. Back in 1971 Tony had several factors going against him. He wanted to stick with his Hammond and piano and didn't really care about the new sounds. Second, Tony was closest to Peter Banks, so it really affected him when Steve replaced him. Third, Tony and Steve didn't really get along. At least he seemed happier playing with Peter on Flash's first album, and then on his next project, One Live Badger. But Tony never had any hard feelings for Rick replacing him.

Wow. I was at that concert. The Seattle Kingdome 1977. Robert was right, later some Idiot threw a firecracker that exploded on the stage right by Jimmy's foot. They stopped playing just long enough for Jimmy Page to grab a mike and say, "If one more fuking firecracker goes off, we're leaving." That did it, because if someone threw a firecracker after that and Zep did leave, the crowd of 62000 people would have likely killed the Goof that lit it.
