Well I can't say I have a favorite martial art but I do know it's meaning. Martial arts come from the words "Martial" meaning War-like and "Art" meaning well art, which means Martial arts literally means "War-like art." Why it's called a WAR-LIKE art is because it's generally practiced during warfare.

My favorite Martial Art is Muay Boran ("Ancient Boxing"). Muay Thai is a cleaned up, less brutal version of Muay Boran. Muay Thai is meant for the ring while Muay Boran is meant for the battlefield.
