last time I saw Albert the young long haired kid that opened for him came out for the closing jam, flinging notes like confetti trying to cut him: The Iceman just kept that grin on his face, bided his time, then hit that stinger note and it was all over but the crying. the man.

Albert King used his thumb.
By: BigDBlues. on 27 Sep 08, 23:11:58
Albert sort of has a blues spaz attack in his solos....lol I love it. He's great.
By: TennisNick. on 27 Sep 08, 19:12:57
Some do, some don't. Freddie King played with his fingers, but in a different style than Albert. Albert King used a metal thumbpick I believe. The blues works best when you do your own thing!

Damn fine!

And both of them played Telecasters. That's why Page's name was mentioned in the first place.
By: vivelavidarocka. on 17 Sep 08, 02:35:20
Why fuck Page. I like them both. And both are on the same page.
By: Dogheadj. on 07 Sep 08, 10:32:27
No prob. I wish Albert was still here, too. He was a very, very nice man, and a great guitarist.
By: guitarplayer122. on 07 Sep 08, 10:07:22
i know it was just a joke because everyone was talkin about page. anyway i wish albert was still here. im 16, so i didnt even have a chance to see alot of blues guys. i feel lucky that i get to see B.B.King this month and buddy guy and hubert sumlin at experience hendrix in october.
By: tompaaz. on 06 Sep 08, 11:42:47
cool that he doesnt play with a pick, alot of blues players do that?
By: Dogheadj. on 06 Sep 08, 09:19:34
I've played with Albert, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind at all. he loved music, period.
By: panzerschnott. on 06 Sep 08, 08:54:39
Beautiful tone Albert gets on his Tele. He's the first person I've ever seen to use the Bridge Cap. I took mine off because they always got in my way.

Finding out more info all the time, Pagey played a Strat on some tunes on the Houses of the Holy album. Great idea, mixing Fenders with Gibsons.
By: leadimprov. on 04 Sep 08, 16:33:26
All great players, including Albert here, build energy into their solos. If that takes a billion notes, or a single note as with B.B., energy is energy, and when it's produced, the deal is done. All all these great players play on or slightly before the beat. Most other players are overplaying way, way, way too far ahead of the beat.
By: guitarplayer122. on 01 Sep 08, 17:01:11
fuck Page - this is Albert's "page"
By: JilaX. on 28 Aug 08, 11:39:29

Albert King, not Albert Collins, was SRV's idol and someime mentor.
