Its because when the original translation company brought it to america way back when they considered the japanese song to sound to military, so they wrote their own theme song in 1 day no less, and then went on to translate the entire series using only 4 voice actors :D Doing each episode in 3 days or less :D That shows dedication to a deadline

The word "Go" in the song is a tripple pun. It's the name of the driver (Go Mifune), the number of the car (The Mach-Go (Go is one pronunciation of the number 'five' in japanese)), and it's also being used in the English sense of cheering someone on (Go! Go!)
