That's close to what Parker was reported to have said. And like the barracuda he was, he approached Elvis's dad before Elvis's funeral had been held and pressured his dad to sign a contract giving him power of attorney on marketing merchandise bearing Elvis's name or likeness. His motive was right (preventing others from capitalizing off Elvis's death) but his timing stunk!

Elvis did where his sundial suit before 1977 and It must have been awesome to see. He was so sick and worked so hard in 1977 to please a manager who didn't care if he lived or died. It would have been great to see him in his other suits in 1977. I personally know a man who worked with Elvis and was very close to the inner circle and he has told me that upon hearing Elvis died colonel Parker said "Well this doesn't change anything, Elvis will be worth more dead than alive" Some manager.

What an interesting set list, experimental and lively. Great interaction between Elvis and group. Totally wasted on a lukewarm Las Vegas boring audience. Thank Parker. He should have been doing this set at Wembley arena. Story goes because of the muted audience response, Presley soon returned to the standards, dropping this cutting edge bluesy set. This one is a classic. It was a major attempt for Elvis to change his concert style with a more diverse collection of music like Big Boss Man, Let Me Be There, etc, and I think it was outstanding. Why he didn't sustain this, is beyond me. This was probably his best concert post-Aloha. Bottom line: I love it. Please post more!

The original two and a half minute release too was short, but eight and a half minutes is too long! The 'Fool' album was one of Elvis's best (quite by accident, of course - the tracks were thrown together willy nilly). I think the combination of Elvis on vocals and Dylan on lyrics works a treat every time (see also, 'Tomorrow is a long time').

This is great . It appears on 'Our Memories of Elvis' Vol.2' in the long version. Where did you get the extended version? It's butchered and cut down to under two and a half minutes on the 1970's album release. The name of which I cant recall at the moment. Thanks for posting this version!!

Pretty much a good cover. Remember seeing him at the Boone Saloon in Enon, Ohio covering this song for the first time ever. Conway Twitty was in the audience that night and pretty much cropdusted the entire place after 4 Old Crow stiffys. Was good stuff. God I miss those days.

Could be better. But it's a gem. It's awesome to hear Elvis cover this song just because it's Elvis and Bob Dylan. But he kind of smooches it up a bit. But it's not bad. He's done better for sure. Love the guitar playing in there. Good recording quality too. Love the reverb. Great video though. But Elvis was at his peak the first 4 years he started. My opinion but give it a chance.

Who would tell anything to Elvis? He did 95 % Of the Job. He said what should be released. And Then one day he didn´t cared about it anymore, and thougt: Felton do whatever he wants to do. Wrong? Yes, it was. But again, Who would say anthing against Elvis? (That´s probably why he died so soon...) And that´s why i like the undubbed and unedited versions of Faded Love or these others the most, because that´s caught in the act, free wheeling. And yes, this ist still a brillant song.

Yes you´re right. But Elvis lost intersting in these recordings over the last years of his life. Without Felton The Moody Blue LP would have been a mess (But Why The Hell is LET ME BE THERE on tis LP? I Still don´t get this....) And in my point of view Joan did a nice Job, as Felton did (Though the sound of The Madison LP is not the best, but hey, the LP was pressed and released in such a short time...) Any Producer would have done a nice Job with Elvis in the 70s.

Okay I have to grant you that, yes. Especially with the Moody Blue LP, you're right. But again, Moody Blue, the maser take, ran for mearly 5 minutes... was it significantly cheaper the shorter the song on the LP? Because he seemed obsessed with shortness!! Joan Deary, Felton's rival, to me was always a better producer, but I think your views are every interesting. This is still a brilliant song tho!

I Guess you´re right. Elvis might have thought it is "not Good Enough" to be considered as a release. We know Elvis thought that often (For example YOUR CHEATIN` HEART or even TIGER MAN from 1975, which was good as a Jam). And really these 1971 Recordings like THE FIRST TIME or EARLY MORNIG RAIN really rocks... Felton just did good Jobs on These recordings Elvis didn´t cared about a lot, like the MOODY BLUE LP, without Felton there would have been nothing at all....

I see your point, what irritates me more is that Elvis took no interest in the overdubbing and just let Felton get on with it. But often Elvis was drowned in a sea of voices, but I agree that if ths was done with the same care as 'GOT MY MOJO' or even 'I WASHED MY HANDS' then this would have been even better. Maybe one day we'll get a 'remix' (urgh) but I doubt RCA will ever put this out on single.. shame, because it rocks!

I´d like to disagree. Not "everything" Felton worked On was worse, a few things but not all. But you´re right. To edited this song under three Minutes was not a lucky move by him. A four or five Minutes version a la GOT MY MOJO WORKING would have been nice. But DON`T THINK TWICE, IT`S ALL RIGHT....

What peeves me off is why Felton (swear word) Jarvis edited it down to under 3 minutes for the album release - it looked bad on Elvis as an artist. I so often wish he produced his own sessions, Jarvis ruined everything he touched.

Wow, I don't even have the time to read all 103 comments, but I read about half of them, and my "two cents" are that even though this was recorded after the original "killer songs genera" like Don't be Curel etc. it's still got that "killer sound and style" that Elvis seemed to evoke. This is definitly one of his "real keepers" in my book. This song, and Burnin' Love, even though they're not in the early, early "hot hits", still evokes the burnin' sound of Elvis. Marc Trainor.

You know it's so hard to even talk about what I think some of Elvis greatest songs were because the guy was such a dynamo, but for me, his earlier stuff was some of the greatest, but this was a "little bit later" after the really "early" stuff, but it's all Elvis as far as I'm concerned. He really was a "prolific" singer, to me in the greatest sense of the word. He's hard to beat!!!!!!!!!!! Marc Trainor.

This is the first time that I've heard a live performance from 1974 of Never Been To Spain. That was the only time that Elvis ever performed it live in concert in 1974. Both songs in that video were very magical performances as expected. I love both of those very magical songs so very much. It's such a travesty that this concert hasn't yet been officially released. This is awesome. You can also find a live version from August 75 on here. That one has video but sound is not as good. Ending is worth it though. This man's voice never failed him even when he was so sick at the end.

I had never heard any of these three live performances before you posted this video. As expected, they were each perfect performances. I love each of those three perfect songs so very much. Because of you, I have heard so very many new Elvis recordings. It's such a travesty and a disgrace that this concert hasn't yet been officially released. This is my favorite Elvis Las Vegas concert from the Summer of 1974. Thank you so very much for making and sharing that perfect video, 5 Stars.

This was a good song that should've made Top 10 in the US but RCA didn't do their job right in promoting the song. The long version of this song was also available in Canada after Elvis's death. And I believe a longer version of "The Sound of Your Cry" was also available prior to 1980's "Elvis' Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" (There never was a volume two.)

This performance was released for the first time on "Moody blue & other great performances" bootleg CD by Fort Baxter in 1995.
