no problem. That's what i also do. Etch, (tin platting then) and last drilling. The little copper piece at the center that is missing, also helps drilling exaclty at the center. All you have to do is NOT to hold the pcb with much pressure. Let the pcb move (if needed). This "auto allignment" "feature" happens because of the spin of the drill bit, and because of the copper around the hole. Sort of like "bounds". Hope you understand what i say !

javapda, I see you having problem drilling. Try to etch first, and then drill the holes. You wont have this tremble when the little piece of copper at the center of the hole will be missing.

Depends on many things. DC or AC? The DC constant or pulsed? Anyway, voltage affects how close can two copper lines be. If i am right -i dont remember- 10000 volts can "jump" over 1centimeter (or less offcourse). Current creates heat, so low width and height of a copper line can be melted -> open circuit. The width is handled by design. The height can be increased if you add solder to the copper. But this can create resistance which is not always wanted. If i remeber correct, 3amps -> 1mm width.

So how much current and voltage can a PCB carry? I'm sure it's dependant on the circuits installed as well, but how much can the copper lines on the board handle?

thats pretty cool i should tell my teacher if we could do that in class, i have computer technology in my course and we do the same thing you do, but we have all the things we need for cutting, soldering, and drilling, and even breadboarding. its pretty awesome LOL

You can use this process to create a circuit board to mount the parts needed to process radio frequencies. But the actual processing of the radio frequencies will be a function of the circuit created.

I am developing a new JVM for motes. I am also porting it on SUN SPOT. I am working on this day and night since last December however, still need 4-5 more months of work. It will be open-source and will be ported in all the motes currently supporting TinyOS. I will let you know when it get released... In Sun Spot a HelloWorld mote version takes more than 10K bytes of memory (per Squawk forum) and in our JVM only few bytes (not even 1-KB).

Interesting perspective. If you are not productive with a technology and it does provide a solution, it doesn't make sense to stick with it. The Sun SPOT has helped me go from idea to proof-of-concept very quickly. The end-product is not always the SPOT itself. But the Sun SPOT has proven to be a valuable tool for me. If you do try some alternatives, I'd love to hear about your experiences with them. Thanks again

Furthermore, there are much better (cheaper and smaller) motes provided by Texas Instruments however, Java cannot be run on them. The next step should be to improve Java to Run on motes, instead of PC like powerful things.

I have two development kits for SUN SPOT. I have not tried Sentilla motes as they are not as yet openly available. The reason I dislike Sun SPOT is that they are not really motes. A motes should be much smaller and should have less than 10k RAM and say around 32 KB of Flash. A mote should be very cheap (e.g. under 50$). The Sun SPOT are as powerful as little older PC and one can even run Linux on them. Sun SPOT are also expensive.

I really like the Sun SPOT. Sun SPOT is a great environment for developing and testing embedded applications. With the Sun SPOT's many functions you can get a quick idea of how your embedded application might be implemented. Then you could either deploy on the Sun SPOT itself or take what you've learned and move to a more discrete implementation. I have not tried the Sentilla motes yet. Have you tried it? Have you developed with a Sun SPOT? Both?
