Yes, this was Animal and Hawk before the distinctive Face Paint, Spikes, Ironman by Black Sabbath, etc. Most of the writers in WWE and TNA were not wrestling fans and did not grow up watching this stuff. That's really bad for them and for us.

so this 1 channel would have wrestling, music vids and movies on all at the times, days etc that they were on back in the 80s. with the advent of dvi-outputs from your computer to flat screen tv's, you could be watching something exciting again. i'm sure this could all be done no cost or very little cost too. unless it becomes too popular and bandwidth issues are make it problematic.

It seems like the only way to bring something like that back would be to start some sort of internet tv channel which could bring in 1.indy fed that modelled itself after 80s wrestling angles, etc. but advanced enough to be fresh. new music, etc. 2.a music video channel that was the complete opposite of what current eMpTy-V plays. 3.and channel that has independent movies submitted from all over the place. and all of this should be featured on one awesome new internet tv website.

Yep. If fact Georgia Championship Wrestling was the show that was on just before Jim Crockett Promotions, which was part of the NWA, came in & changed the name of the show to World Championship Wrestling in 1983. Thank God they kept the same format. I wouldn't be the same if they did.

This was before it became "sports entertainment". Some of these guys probably really had axes to grind week to week. And another thing, they actually had to work for their paychecks back then. The Road Warriors in their early days as a tag team. Animal went by Joe Lauren for a while as a jobber, then became RW in Atlanta as a singles wrestler. Hawk wrestled as Crusher Von Haig before coming to Atlanta. Also training with them were Rick Rude, Barry Darsow, and Scott Simpson, who became Nikita Koloff. His debut was delayed a year due to an arm injury. I guess his character was a Russian play on Brad Rheingans.

By the 80's Andre was not much of an athlete, but no one could beat him unless he allowed them. Check out tapes/footage from the 60's and 70's Andre was an incredible ahtlete and could even climb the top rop and jump off, unfortunately because of his condition and getting out of shape he was not much of an athlete by the 80's.

Also, we all know wrestling is for entertainment and scripted but a lot of times shit happens anyway and many of the hits can be real stiff such as the clothesline I mentioned. Back in the 80's shit was crazy and wrestlers would test each other and get into serious feuds more outside of the show.Studd would have definitely beat the stinkin shit out of Andre any fuckin day in a real fight. Have you ever seen a guy Bundy's size and weight run across a ring as fast as he did such as when he did the avalanche! Hell no, because both Bundy and Studd were athletes unlike Andre. Where are you getting those billings from? I've never seen the 5'11 Kurt angle listed above 6' maybe 6'1. Finlay I've never even seen a reference to his height. Hogan was a little taller than the 6'4 Rock. Hogan has publicly admitted to losing a few inches due to his bad knee and back problems. Plus he's in his 50s. Andre was a legit 7' maybe 7'1. McMahon is 6'2 and look at the beginning of this video, he looks at least 10" taller. Look at how big Andres head is compared to Vince's.

they bill finlay at 6'2 today and he is 5'9. the billed 5'10 angle at 6'2 and 6'3; there was no exceptionally tall wrestlers back then so of course they could bill andre at 7'4, hogan is rocks height remember. if the likes of nathan jones, khali, big show, nash or matt morgan were around back then he would have been billed at 7ft the most

I would say more like 7' to 7'1. I've seen a couple pictures of Andre next to Wilt Chamberlain and they were the same height. Go to google and type in "Andre the Giant and Wilt Chamberlain" and it'll come up. Its in black and white. Andre wasn't even standing up as straight as Wilt either. Plus, Hogan said when he was young he was 6'7 in his book and he said Andre was 6" taller than him. I don't think they could get away with billing a 6'10 guy a 7'4-7'5. So, I'd say 7'1.

holy $hit i'm the little guy around the 3:15 mark. these used to be taped in the morning, to show at night. These shows were actually free. It was first come first served. Before this match I had to go to the bathroom which wasn't allowed after the show started because it was near the dressing rooms. It's hard to believe that Rodz and Baron Mikel Scicluna are in the WWE Hall of Fame and Denucci and Bruno Sammartino are not. I guess those slots are reserved for those that kiss Vinny Mac's butt. Does anyone realize how many times Backlund kept his belt because he was "bleeding too much"? This always lead to a Texas Death or Luimberjack or Cage Match. Pat Patterson & Grand Wizard Introduce IC Title

Pat Patterson and The Grand Wizard of Wrestling (the late Ernie Roth) introduce the Intercontinental Title to Vince McMahon. Maybe somebody could tell me if there really was a tournament? Where did Patterson get the North American Title? Was it the same title from the Mid South territory? Thanks & Enjoy!

HHH beat the Undertaker to become #1 contender to Lesnar's belt. And when Steph declared that Brock defends the title only on Smackdown, Bischoff awarded the title to HHH as a #1 contender. No tournament though, but a win over Taker.

If my memory is correct, Dibiase "lost" the North American Title (which was mainly a Mid-South title) to Patterson, the tournament was made up as a way of unifying the North and South American Titles (Hense the name Intercontinental) and also saving face for Dibiase to bring the North American Title back to Mid-South.

That wouldn't work these days because wrestling is so exposed on the internet. In those days, WWE could say they held a tournament anywhere and no one could dispute it because they didn't have the luxury of the internet to know what goes on back stage.
