are you stupid? Ginger Baker is an incredible drummer (or at least he was back when cream was around). He has his own unique style that competed for the spotlight, just like Jack Bruce's bass and Clapton's guitar. But I do agree that Charlie Watts is a bit overrated. He can definately keep a good beat, but he's nothing amazing. He doesn't stand out from the crowd the way Baker did.Watts' style is nothing special.

I saw gerry a few months ago live at Santa Monica Pier, CA. I was very impressed and became a fan since then. He is so happy on stage with a bright glow around him. He sang so good and has such a beautiful voice, and made me feel very good. I wish I discovered him earlier. I love how he talks and he is so funloving and professional and he did a variety of songs. The Tremeloes did some songs with him and their voices were beautiful with orignal harmonies.

Great variety in a short set : music hall, classical & comic social comment. Joe is one of the few who still link working class traditions of music hall, skiffle & rock n roll. It'd be great if he did a "life story" album - what it's meant to live in post-war Britain. The lack of commercial success for Brown's Home Brew was such a shame. Is it my unwashed ears (or my dirty mind) or is Joe having fun singing "Willy OF a Sam" instead of "Willy OR a Sam"?

For one thing Cilla was managed by Brian Epstein so she flew on the coat tails of the Beatles. Secondly Kathy had a wide appeal, and older people (i.e. parents) liked her voice, which would alienate many younger fans. Nothing turns off a teen more than being asked to play one their records by a parent. Also the blonde "Marilyn" style was fading in the mid sixties. Straight ironed hair would have helped.

Singback is allowed when it is for a tv show! A lot of singers do that! Take that preformed in a Danish TV show not so long ago and that was singback as well. I think it is okay. When they rocorded the song they had to stand in seperated rooms because Tom's voice was so powerful; I guess that's why they are doing singback?

Actually Tom has mimed on shows without Nina so I tend to think it's more to do with production concerns. He mimed "It's Not Unusual" on Top of the Pops in 1987 and mimed "Move Closer" on Wogan in '89. As I was saying, I seem to remember Tom and Nina singing live together on Top of the Pops and she sounded fine then so it's most likely a producer's decision in the case of this clip. He'll probably lip-sync again if asked. That's showbiz.

I believe it was Nina or her people that made them both mime. Like in the National Lotto show in the UK in September 1999 Tom sang Looking Out My Window to a backing track, yet when he was with Nina on same show he mimed Burning Down The House. Tom sings to backing tracks if he hasnt a band. Fact. So it's like asking Tom to be like a bubblegum singer. Hope he never does that again. He's too legendary to lower himself.

That's a bit harsh! Sometimes tv producers ask artists to lip-sync to save time on sound checks and setting up gear. I agree it's a waste to have Tom on a show and get him to mime though. I've a feeling Tom and Nina sang this live on Top of the Pops in UK. For that reason I think she can sing live as she seemed to do well on that occasion if memory serves.

Actually John plays the intro on his J-160 acoustic and also at the breaks. That is why he plays the acoustic in the first place as it was recorded that way. Sorry - not being rude bt that's nonsense about the gtr not being plugged in (etc.) or using effects or whatever. That's the same Gibson J160E he made the record with (inc opening riff). I think you're misled by the fact that in those days electro-acoustics had magnetic pickups as transducers weren't then available (and miking acoustic gtrs on gigs was not practical). The 'electric' sound that these pickups give is pretty unavoidable.
