Don't know why you are so obsessed with the pronunciation of solder. I am Canadian, we use the English pronunciation of solder and the "l" is silent under British rules. this is the way we speak and you need to understand that there are many ways of pronunciation. Surely there is something more important for you to set your energies to!

Personally, I would work with 20 - 22 gauge wire when working with this tool. Too thick and you might damage the tool, while too thin a gauge might be too thin to hold it's shape. You can also temper your jump rings with a chasing hammer and dapping block to harden the jump rings after shaping.

I'm a guy, and i use jump rings to make chainmail. :) takes a long time, but it's a rewarding hobby, meaning you can sell a chainmail suit that took a month to make, and about $30 worth of wire and make $100-300 (depending on how well made it is). like I said, rewarding, you need to be patient and try smaller stuff before attempting the suit. I'm getting ready to start my first one, if I can just find my 1/2 inch mandrel. WTF(meaning where the fart) is it?

OR get a steel bar (from tractor supply or some other store that sells them), some vice grips, and some wire, and hold the wire on the bar with the vice grips, and use the vice grips as a handle to spin the bar around, using your hand to make sure that the wire stays tight. a pair of vice grips and a steel bar are probably cheaper than this tool, and they definitely have more uses.
